Hi All! I just got back from a baby shower and thought I'd share the card I made for the mama to be :) Now you might have noticed- I LOVE me some cute design paper and have a slight addiction to 6x6 paper pads! So I really went out of my comfort zone on this card and put it together with no design paper- I know, shock *gasp* right?!? So I colored up this cute image from Mayzy Art Stamps called Mama Leah to be my focal point and went with a pretty bright pink since it would be on a white background- and it's also fitting since the little bundle of joy is a girl :) Punching the bottom of the card with a Martha Stewart border punch gave some detail and I added some yellow pearls to the middle of the flowers. Then to balance out the image I used some twine from The Twinery to make a bow through a button and stuck a couple of pins behind it. This is about as clean and simple as I know how to go and I think it turned out all right- my favorite part might just be the one element that I truly didn't give any thought to until putting it all together- the color combo of pink and yellow! Gonna have to remember that for the future! Thanks so much for stopping by to visit- I hope it was worth your while :)

An Angel Named Snowflake
Hi All! I hope that you are all making it through the stress the impending holiday can bring :) I'm super excited because I don't take much time off at work but was able to get part of next week off so I'm not to stressed just yet- but knowing me no matter how much time off I have I'll still be up at midnight on Christmas Eve trying to finish up last minute gifts for my family. I've determined that procrastination can actual help my creative process (or that's at least what I'm convincing myself of!). I've got another Christmas card to share- I know, shocking right?!? Ya'll are going to be really happy when I've blogged my way through most of these huh? Well, between these needing to be mailed, and me using up a lot of my mojo with soooo many cards to make I kinda went clean and simple with a few and this just happens to be one of those. Luckily the images from Saturated Canary, like this one called Christmas Angel, are so eye catching when they're all colored up that its easy to let them take center stage. Pair the image with one of my favorite things about winter, snowflakes, and you really can't go wrong. And even though it's one of the more simple cards I've ever done there's something about it that still appeals to me. I hope the person that receives it feels the same way :)

A Football Graduation
Hi All! So I know we all as card makers know the benefits of someone ordering a custom card- they get to tell you all about the person it's for and get in return a one-of-a-kind, just for them kind of card. Which is great when the person they tell you about fits nicely into your wheelhouse of what you do well. But what about when they ask for something out of your comfort zone? You have a few moments (or in my case MANY moments) of head scratching and wondering how to pull it off. Such is the case of a graduation card that is for a guy who 'likes cars, plays football- his number is 26 and their school mascot is an antelope (say what?!?) and has blond hair and a goatee- you know, just in case you do one of those cool stamps you color and want to get one that looks like him'...so my translation is I'll need to find a stamp that somehow works into one or more of those categories and then figure out how to get it all on a card so it looks good- oh, and yeah, it's for a boy which means I can use none of my favorite things like flowers and lace and bling. I mean, what's a girl to do? Well, this girl thought football- yeah I can work with that, and bonus is if there's a helmet I won't have to worry about hair color or goatee :) Thank goodness for Kenny K images because I found just what I was looking for with the 'Football' digi stamp. Then I glanced through all my embellishments and stash for 'non-girly' stuff that I could also add. As luck would have it I actually did think of a pretty cool way to pull in the #26- I was looking over some of the challenges and saw that Paper Sundaes is doing 'Pop It Up' and after looking at the DT inspiration had a moment of my own inspiration for 'popping' the number off the design paper. All in all, considering how out of left field, or in football terms 'far from the 50 yard line', this card felt to me, I think I managed a pretty cool guy card that still has those personal touches. But sometimes, I'm just not sure I charge enough for all this mental turmoil :)

Beach Bum
Hi All! This card is probably a figment of my wishful thinking- I'm so tired of all the rain I can't wait for summer weather! Oh to live somewhere that's always nice enough to surf...it's probably the same place that Margaretaville is (hey, if I'm gonna dream might as well dream big right?) and I would love to become a permanent resident! But alas, I'm stuck here with the clouds and rain so I guess I'll take refuge in my craft area where I can make things bright and sunny if I want to :) Here I've got Lil Lad Stephan from Tickled Pink Stamps (find him here) and couldn't wait to get him on a card. I used a new 6x6 paper pad from Fancy Pants called Beach Bum and it couldn't have been more fitting. Now, in my infinite wisdom, I chose to use a boy image to enter the TPS Challenge which is 'Bling It Out'...probably not my finest idea but I did manage to find a rhinestone arrow that I think complements Stephen nicely and I threw in a few gems as bubbles in the piece of wave paper. Now I think it's time to unwind- I've heard it's always 5 o'clock somewhere :)
Here's a close up of cute little Stephen and the Copics I used:

Rock On
Hi All! I've got another Tickled Pink Challenge card for you! I've so loved the new releases for March and have this compulsion to color them so I figure I might as well play along :) Now I freely admit this card is kinda hard for me because the challenge theme is For The Boys which I struggle with. See I don't have much reason to make male cards- I'm single, I don't have any brothers and I've got two gay dads, one of whom is almost as girly as me (and I love him for it)! So, suffice it to say boys cards are not something I make all that often :) I did decide a little while ago that I needed to at least have some stuff that I could use for boys cards and I found the Little Yellow Bicycle Generation line which I was able to get on clearance- it's awesome for these times when I need some 'guy' stuff on the fly. I used Lil Lad Lestat in digi form (grab him here and if you want him in digi make sure to grab him by March 31st) who just screamed black and white at me so I had to listen. Then I figured why not just carry that monochromatic look through the whole card? I was going for the dark, brooding 'emo' type feel- since it's not something I have much personal experience in I hope I pulled it off; and I hope I managed a decent guy card- now it's just the problem of who in the heck I'll ever give it to :)
Here's a close up of the coloring and I used the Cool Grey Copics this time instead of the Warm Grey just to shake it up a bit.
I'll be entering this card in the following challenges:
Tickled Pink Challenges- For The Boys
Charisma Cardz Challenge- Birthday for a Teen
**Added Challenge** I was waiting to hear whether I could do the iCopic Challenge for Black and White coloring since I didn't have the *one other color* part and got the okay so I'm also entering it there!
Supplies: Cardstock- Bazzil; DP- Echo Park- Grey Distressed, All other DP and Canvas Tag- Little Yellow Bicycle Generation; Brads- stash

It's A Cupcake Thing
Hi All! I hope you've got a sweet tooth because this card just may be cavity worthy :) This card was incredibly fun to make with its soft pretty colors and lots of layers- courtesy of the sketch at Friday Sketchers this week. I used the new CC Designs Swiss Pixie Cupcake Birgitta digi that you can grab here and I tried a new technique with my Spellbinders die by fussy cutting around her legs and then pulling them outside of the die before sending it through my Big Shot. It was actually incredibly easy and I love how it turned out, especially since the she seems to be sitting in the image. Now I just have to make sure that this card ends up in the hands of someone who seriously loves cupcakes!
I'll be entering this in the following challenges:
