Shades of...

Hi All!  Sorry it's been over a week since I've posted!  My birthday is on Tuesday and I actually took the whole week off work which is lovely but also meant getting some things in order for while I'm gone.  But I just kept reminding myself that I'm going to have much more time than normal to spend in my craft room next week and that made it all worth while :)

Enough about that- how about we talk about some crafty stuff?  I got to do something a little fun this time around- I needed a card for a bachelorette party!  Now, keeping my audience in mind, I didn't want anything too terribly off color but wanted something with a little bit of sauciness and sass...in comes this gorgeous stamp from Krista over at Saturated Canary called Grey Tie- you guessed it, inspired by 50 Shades of Grey.  Now I wanted the card to still be really pretty so I paired my image up with some Teresa Collins design papers which compliment the image while still keeping it, I hope, a little classy :)  I saw the Mojo Monday sketch and something about it just pulled at me so that's really how the layout of the card came about.  You'll notice some of my favorite things like bling and some gorgeous, glittery flowers- basically lots of girlie goodness!  In the end I really like this card- one of those ones that's almost hard to give away to someone else, you know?  Guess I'll just have to make another!  Thanks for stopping by- I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

How Do You Like Them Apples?

Hi All!  Soooo...I just couldn't resist this title, lol :)  Doesn't really have much to do with the card, other than there's apples in the image, but try as I might once the thought was there I just couldn't think of anything else!  I've just got a quick little card to share- I've had this image (Orchard) printed, waiting to be colored, for some time now but other things always seemed to take priority so when I saw the photo inspiration challenge over on the Saturated Canary Challenge blog and it had a tree in it I knew that I finally had my chance.  I colored her with my Copics, of course, to match some paper from MME and Echo Park which also incorporate some elements from the photo like the wood in the patterned paper and the teal color.  Then I added some bling, flowers and some cheesecloth which is quickly becoming a staple in my card making to finish it off.  Thank you so much for stopping by to take a look- I hope you all have a wonderful end to your week :)

Love

Hi All!  I've got another quick baby card to share with you- I swear there must be something in the water :)  This was a card order but I was pretty much given total freedom as long as I used the color palette of grey, yellow and coral which sounded like a winning combo to me!  I instantly thought of this gorgeous grey patterned paper from Pink Paislee- I think it's from the Soiree line- I bought a few sheets of it when I saw it the for the first time because I loved the pattern and shade of grey so much...a perfect neutral.  Then I grabbed a couple of different sheets from different MME lines for the yellow and coral patterned paper.  When I set them all down together they seemed to be the perfect match :)  I knew that I had some baby cards coming up so I snagged this image from Saturated Canary called New Baby the last time I was shopping and colored her up with my Copics to match.  I'm sure you can't tell from my blog but I'm a little obsessed with Krista's images- they are perfect for so many different things and I just LOVE coloring them!  To finish the card off I added some bling (shocking I know but I think it's kinda becoming my thing, lol), a shimmery doily from Martha Stewart, some flowers and a gorgeous wooden ticket from Prima.  Then it looked like it was missing a little something on the left so I tucked some pins tied together with bakers twine in there and decided it was good to go.  I've gotta say this color combo is definitely a favorite and will probably be popping up here again fairly soon :)  Hope you all enjoy- thanks so much for stopping by!

A Mermaid Tale

Hi All!  So, I have a confession to make- sometimes I get nervous when I'm crafting...if I start coloring and I like how it's going then I get nervous that I'm going to mess the next part up.  If I'm starting a card and I really like how my image turned out or think I've got a great idea for the layout I get nervous that the end product won't be what I hoped- and I always joke that at least once during both the coloring and the card making stages I think I'm going to have to start over...does this happen to you to?  But then I'll make it to the end and the best feeling in the world is standing back and truly liking what's sitting on my desk...I think that feeling is probably part of what draws us in as crafter's- the joy of the finished product when it's all that you hoped it would be when you started.

This card definitely took me down this path- I'd coveted the stamp, Under the Sea Mae, from Some Odd Girl for so long, and drooled over what the DT did with it, that by the time I got it I had all these ideas in my head of what I wanted it to look like when I colored it and what the card could look like.  That's when the nervousness, and maybe a little bit of intimidation, starts to set in.  But this time I'm happy- it's not exactly how I pictured the final product- but my cards rarely ever are, lol!  The true test is when I stand back and see it sitting on my desk it makes me smile which hopefully means it does the same for the person who receives it :)  Thanks so much for stopping by and listening to my late night ramblings!  Hope you're all having a wonderful week so far!

Baby Mine

Hi All!  I just got back from a baby shower and thought I'd share the card I made for the mama to be :)  Now you might have noticed- I LOVE me some cute design paper and have a slight addiction to 6x6 paper pads!  So I really went out of my comfort zone on this card and put it together with no design paper- I know, shock *gasp* right?!?  So I colored up this cute image from Mayzy Art Stamps called Mama Leah to be my focal point and went with a pretty bright pink since it would be on a white background- and it's also fitting since the little bundle of joy is a girl :)  Punching the bottom of the card with a Martha Stewart border punch gave some detail and I added some yellow pearls to the middle of the flowers.  Then to balance out the image I used some twine from The Twinery to make a bow through a button and stuck a couple of pins behind it.  This is about as clean and simple as I know how to go and I think it turned out all right- my favorite part might just be the one element that I truly didn't give any thought to until putting it all together- the color combo of pink and yellow!  Gonna have to remember that for the future!  Thanks so much for stopping by to visit- I hope it was worth your while :)
