So Rosy

Hi all!  I'm sure you're not surprised at all to see another Saturated Canary image- this happens whenever Krista comes out with new releases- I just HAVE to have them all you know :)  This gorgeous girl is Princess Peanelope and I modified her just a bit- I wanted to go with a more elegant look but I love her cute bob with the headband so I just cropped out the mattresses that she's sitting on for this card- I think it works, although in retrospect I might have thought ahead about the pillow, lol!  I've been in a little bit of a rut when it comes to layouts lately so I was super happy to see that the challenge over at SC was a sketch by Lou- it gave me some much needed inspiration.  Usually my stuff tends to turn out a little more bright and graphic but I really like the deep color palette that this card ended up with- especially the red.  Well, I guess that's enough rambling on from me, lol :)  Thank you so much for stopping by to visit- I hope that everyone is having a great week so far!

So Thankful

Hi All!  For those in the US I hope that you've had a wonderful Thanksgiving :)  I had a fabulous day filled with family, excellent food and lots of loud laughter- there really is nothing better!  I'd like to share a project that has kind of become a tradition between me and one of my dad's.  You see, he used to decorate for every holiday and Thanksgiving was no exception, but my sister and I always gave him a hard time because the decorations weren't the 'cute' kind but more along the lines of 'realistic' and I think we can all agree- real turkeys are not the prettiest animals :)  So I started making him cards that he could put out as decoration that could counter balance those decorations that we made fun of.  It's a fun little tradition and I have such a blast making pretty little things for him to display.  This year I made a sign featuring one of the new Saturated Canary images called Princess Harvest and I have to say, I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out!  And he must have felt the same because the instant he got it he hung it on the door for all to see :)  The fun traditions that my family and I have for the holidays just remind me again and again of all the things I'm so thankful for- a close and loving family, having the security of a roof over my head and food in my cupboards and getting to share the things I love with those around me.  Thanks for stopping by to visit- I'm also so thankful for this wonderful blogging community that I feel blessed to be a part of!

Miss Pretty

Hi All!  I've got just a fun little card to share with you this evening :)  I have many people who order cards on a whim- they see something they like either in person or on my blog and it makes them think of someone special in their life that they'd like to do something for...this just happens to be one of those kinds of cards.  A friend of mine was scrolling through my blog and called me- she said that she'd just had a great idea for a card that she'd like me to make for her sister-in-law.  Apparently her SIL has this alter ego named Miss Pretty- and she just happens to be a pin-up!  So she was wondering if I could make a card with a sassy pin-up girl and incorporate the name Miss Pretty- she even sent me a picture of her all dolled up so that I could color the hair to match and get an idea of what she looks like.  I'd already been looking at this awesome stamp from Kenny K called Showgirl but other stamps were calling my name so I just hadn't gotten around to grabbing her yet- but this was the perfect excuse (I know, I know, when have I EVER needed an excuse to buy stamps!).  So here's my pin-up inspired card- it was a blast to put together; I hope I captured the look and that she loves it :)  Thanks so much for stopping by to visit!

Celebrate

Hi all!  Just popping in to share another birthday card that I made recently.  I took the opportunity to use this adorable image called Unicorn Mae from Some Odd Girl that I had colored up a while ago but just never had the time to put on a card.  I did a couple of different things with this image that I thought I'd take a second and share :)  First thing, and one of the main reasons I LOVE digi stamps, is that I flipped my image in Word before I printed her so that she's a mirror of the original.  Sometimes it's helpful if you are doing a specific layout on your card but in this instance I just wanted to do something a little different but didn't want to crop the image or anything like that.  This is a simple way to slightly switch things up.  The second thing I did was draw in the clouds behind her with my Copics.  I followed this tutorial on Youtube by Annika Ryan from Another Messy Crafter and, considering it was my first try, I think it turned out okay; I'm looking forward to trying it again.  Thank you so much for stopping by to take a peek at my card- I hope you like it!
