Epic

Hi all!  Dang- I was totally planning on entering the Saturated Canary challenge for Inspired by a Movie- mine was Pitch Perfect- but life just seemed to have other plans for me this week :) BUT I still got to make a sassy, funky card so I thought I'd share it!  I had such a blast coloring up this trendy girl with my Copics- she's part of a stamp duo called DJ Luv but I kinda cropped the guy out as he just wasn't quite fitting with the idea I had in my head...poor guy :)  Now, normally I pick my papers before I start coloring my image but this time I switched it up- mostly because I had such a strong idea of how I wanted to color her- and I'm pretty happy with how she turned out.  And, lucky for me, she matched some papers from Fancy Pants!  Then I kinda went crazy on the card- I just started throwing Black Soot Distress Ink on everything to grunge it all up and pulled this striped piece of fabric that I've had for, no lie, about 8 years out of the basket where it always sits and stares at me.  When I was looking for embellishments I remembered I had these new wooden die cut thingy's (yes, that is the technical term, lol) from Freckled Fawn and pulled them out to see if there was something that would work- when I saw the word 'Epic' I knew I'd found the perfect thing.  So all in all this isn't the most traditional birthday card but the fun thing is that it's definitely the kind of card I'd love to receive :)  I hope you find something likeable about it as well- thanks for stopping by to take a peek!

Youtube Take 2!

Hi all!  Remember this little cutie- Violet Vintage from Saturated Canary?  I did my first Youtube video coloring her skin waaaaaay back in October!  My intention was always to make more video's but, to be honest, I wasn't very happy with the quality of that one and it took forever for me to try and set things up to do another one.  I did make a couple of attempts but they just weren't any good :)

So I'd been doing some research on camera's and the like but everything was just so darn expensive it wasn't really feasible.  Then I got to thinking, and playing around on Youtube, watching some reviews of web cams...it was like hitting gold!  They were super quality, much cheaper than a traditional camera, and for those instant gratification people like myself, available at Target!  Can you say 'Sold!'?  So I took some Christmas money I'd been saving and took the plunge.  And here's the result- a new Youtube video!! I know, I know, finally right?  Because this whole process was new again I did another speed coloring just so I wasn't pressured to try and sound like I can talk and color at the same time- at least not right away, lol.  So here is Violet Vintage's hair coloring :)  Because the quality is so much better now, and I think I'm getting the hang of this, definitely be expecting more to come.  If you have any requests or idea's of things you'd like to, see or even specific images you'd like to see, please just let me know in the comments.  All right- Youtube Take 2!

It's On!

Hi all!  Boy, I don't know about you but lately I've been feeling like someone's been stealing time from me!  You know, when you suddenly look at the clock and wonder how it's possible that 3 hours have gone by- especially because you don't feel like you actually accomplished anything in all that time, lol :)  Yup, that's been my life...BUT I finally managed to sneak a little bit away without anyone noticing- even that thief of mine- which meant I got to get crafty- yay!  I was fortunate enough to be able to spend some Christmas money on a Some Odd Girl order and pick up some clear stamp sets that I'd been coveting for a while now.  As soon as my package arrived I pulled those babies out and stamped so I could color them :)  This particular image, from the Gwen In Bloom set, was the first that I took my Copics to and I absolutely love her!  Plus, since it's been in the single digits and below where I live, I couldn't resist the chance to dream a little about spring :)  I hope you love her as much as I do and thanks so much for stopping by to visit me!

Inspired

Hi all!  Sorry that I haven't been around much lately, for some reason it's been tough getting back into the swing of things after the holidays.  But I'm back with a new project that I'm pretty excited about!
I'm always so impressed when I see altered projects that people have done.  I so badly want to be that kind of 'creative' but it really doesn't come as naturally to me as coloring or paper crafts does.  So I've been trying this new way of thinking- when I see something ordinary I try to think of what it could be...now trust me, this has definitely gotten me some funny looks as I snag items from the recycle bin at work or ask if I can have something that someone is going to throw away, but it's a whole new world- this 'outside the box' thinking- and I kinda like it :)

So here's my first attempt- an altered Laughing Cow cheese container!  Now I know it doesn't look like much here but it's the perfect little size for a little trinket holder or even a gift box so I figured, what the heck, I'll give it a go :)  The labels peeled off super easy and the container itself is cardboard with a white layer over the top that distressed really well when I used a sanding block.

And here's the end result!  I of course dressed it up with an adorable Saturated Canary image called Wendy and some of my other favorite embellishments.  Who knew a cheese container could be so pretty huh?  So here's to thinking outside the box in 2013- who's with me?

A Biker Girl's Christmas

Hi All!  I've got a non traditional Christmas card to share with you all tonight :)  One of the fun things about making custom cards for sale is that often I get to work with a theme that I might never have the need for in my personal life but that is a special request from someone for the people in their life.  This happens to be one of those cards...the request was for a cute motorcycle girl with short red hair on a Christmas card.  Now sometimes these special requests send me on a goose chase to find an appropriate stamp but luckily as soon as I heard the request I knew I had just the stamp from Kenny K- let me introduce you to Spy Chick- isn't she the coolest?!?  I colored her up with my Copics to match some fun patterned from Doodlebug Designs.  I know this may not be the traditional Christmas card but isn't it fun when you can make a holiday card that doesn't have a 'holiday' stamp on it?  I sure had fun- and from the sounds of it the biker girl that was the receiver of this card thought it was pretty cool so I would say mission accomplished!  Thank you so much for stopping by to visit and take a look and if I don't get the chance to say it later I want to wish everyone a wonderful holiday- I hope it brings joy and happiness to you all!

I {Heart} Christmas

Hi All!  First off I've got to apologize- I've been absolutely horrible and have not had time to stop by everyone's blogs!  BUT this weekend I finished up most of my Christmas card orders so I should be able to get back into the bloggy swing of things.  I've appreciated all of your comments and visits though- you all totally rock!

Right, now back to business :)  As I said I've been working on some Christmas card orders so I'll be sharing those over the next few posts.  Since this one falls in with the current Saturated Canary challenge (Hot Chocolate & Marshmallows- or coffee for those of us who live off of it, lol) I thought I'd share it first.  I tried something very different on this one- stepping out of my style comfort zone- I only used 1 patterned paper...let me tell you, it took all sorts of restraint, lol!  I wanted to try something more clean and simple since I was using some bright colors so I left the card base white and went from there.  I'm a little undecided about the final product- every time I see it I feel like it's missing something, but that's probably just me over thinking things.  The bonus to going CAS is that the image gets to truly take center stage and I love that!  I've used Latte from Saturated Canary- I picked it up when it was a freebie on Krista's blog but you can pick it up for a discounted price from her shop if you missed it.  Well, I'm sure that's plenty of babbling from me!  I hope you enjoy- and as always thanks so much for stopping by to visit :)
