Happiness Found

Hiya crafty peeps!  Just popping in to share a little make that I put together- my dad's were invited to a wedding for one of their couple friends and asked me to make a card for them.  The wedding was taking place on a boat out on a lake so I wanted to incorporate some nautical themed bits and I had a couple of things stashed away that I received in my Paper Issues Swag Bag- those bags are like gold I tell ya!  Normally I have a heck of a time finding any stamps that could be used for same sex couples and usually have to try and merge digi images myself so I danced for joy when Kristy over at Some Odd Girl released this image called Best Man a little while back.  I've already gotten good use out of it and I know that won't be changing any time soon :)
Thanks so much for stopping in to visit me- if you're in the US I hope you have a fabulous holiday weekend- and for everyone else I hope your weekend feels like a holiday!

Bring on 21!

Hiya crafty peeps!  It's been a while since I've colored up a Saturated Canary stamp so when I got a card order and the person specifically wanted Cali Girl I was super excited to get started!  It was a fun one with some special requests like a camo bikini and some sort of horse incorporation which I was able to do with the paper.  Ultimately I really just got to go all out with the girlie stuff and make it a super special 21st birthday card which I hope she loves :)  Thanks for stopping by to visit me in my little piece of blogland- I hope you've enjoyed your stay!

Hello There

Hiya crafty peeps!  I've been dying to share something with you for a while now and it's finally time- I get to spend another term on the Some Odd Girl design team :)  I'm so excited to kick off another six months- the last term was amazing and I can't wait to keep the momentum going!  To get things started there's a new monthly challenge and the team is switching things up a bit by doing more than just sketches this time around; we get to start with something that is definitely quite the trend- Ombre!
This was so much fun- I used some papers that had the ombre effect and also used my Copics to color and ombre look to the little frame around my image which is Mae from the Fall Friends clear set.
I've been spending a lot of time looking at scrapbooking layouts lately on Instagram and Pinterest so I decided to try making my card like a little layout.  I have to admit I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out and I got to use some new things on it like the cork elements and one of my new tags from Chic Tags to carry the triangle look throughout.  I'm not sure I'm ready for a huge layout just yet but I can see why people fall in love with doing them :)
Thanks so much for stopping by to visit me- I hope you'll pop on over to the Some Odd Girl blog to meet the rest of the team and see their first projects.  And don't be shy to join right in with us- you have all month and we'd love to see what you create!

Sorry peeps- I colored this so long ago I've started a new notebook and can't find the old one with the markers I used!   But they are bright ones cause this is colored on kraft :)

Time for Tea

Hi all!  It's the 1st of the month and you know what that means- a new sketch challenge over at Some Odd Girl :)  We've got this gorgeous sketch to work with:
sketch2
I love the sketches at SOG because they give you a lot of room for interpretation!  This time I went a little more true to the basic sketch because I tried my hand at a boys card- they are definitely my achiles heel in cards but I've heard practice makes perfect- or at least a little better- so I just keep trying every now and then :)  If you're a Wednesday Live Color Along fan from the Ustream show that Kristy does then you'll recognize Mad Hatter Kody as the image she did last week and it definitely stretched my Copic boundaries!  Those pants were a challenge, and about half way through I thought the image was destined for the trash bin, but I stuck with it and I think they turned out okay.  Have you ever tried to do patterns like that?  How'd it go for you?  Well, I sure do hope that you'll stop on by the Some Odd Girl blog to see all the other inspiration from the DT- they always knock my socks off!  And thanks as always for popping by to pay me a visit :)

Hello Red

Hi all!  Just popping in to share a new card with you featuring one of the new clear stamp sets from the Some Odd Girl release this week called Kaylee's Closet- Red Riding Hood.  Now if you're not familiar with Kaylee's Closet you're totally missing out- it's like dress up dolls for adults :)  The main Kaylee's Closet is a clear stamp of Kaylee with a ton of different tops, pants and accessories; then there are releases of additional outfits you can use with Kaylee- like this awesome Red Riding Hood set in the Fairy Tale release.  It comes with the hood, cape and even a sweet little basket and sentiment...they are super fun to play with because the possibilities are endless!  Kristy even made and easy to follow tutorial in case you're not quite sure how it all works :)

For my image I looked up some inspiration online of different versions of Red Riding Hood and found one that had a beautiful deep red combined with an earthy khaki color and I new it was the perfect combo to go with the gorgeous paper from Carta Bella.  I tried using my Spellbinders die to do a shape card too and am pretty happy since it was my first try at it :)  Well, I hope that you enjoy my card and don't forget to stop by the Some Odd Girl blog and leave a comment for a chance to win one of the new stamps!

Too Cute

Hi all!  I hope that everyone had a great week- mine was good but man am I glad to see the weekend!  I was able to get the afternoon off at work which was lovely and gave me some much needed craft time :)  I've been coloring every night after work and this little beauty has been screaming to go on a card ever since so I was more than happy to get to it today.  Isn't she just to die for?  Her name is Fairy Magic and you can get her as a clear stamp from the Some Odd Girl shop- I swear, if you like fairies Kristy has some cuties!  I colored her up with my Copics to match some of my favorite MME papers- there's just something about this shade of pink that I love :)  I tried something a little different for her wings and took the accent stamp that comes in the set- some pretty starbursts- and heat embossed them in pink.  Then I took my colorless blender and picked up some of the lightest pink shade that I used in her dress to kind of color in the rest.  What do you think- success or no?  It didn't turn out perfect but I think I like the effect :)  Well I hope that everyone has a fabulous weekend...thanks for stopping by to pay me a visit!

The Sweetest Day

Hi all!  I've got a special little card to share today!  My mom is a social worker for the state and there's something special happening in her department- one of her coworkers is actually adopting a little girl that her family has been fostering :)  In a job where usually the workers are on the other side of things this is a wonderful reminder that there can be happy endings in even the hardest stories.  So I wanted to do something special for everyone to sign their congratulations.  I showed my mom a couple of different stamps that I thought might work and she picked this one from Tiddly Inks, aptly named Celebrate Joyfully, as the one that most resembled the little girl so I colored her up with my Copics to match some papers from MME.  I just wanted it to be bright and cheerful- something that would mirror the joy everyone feels at this special occasion.  So thanks for stopping by to take a peek- I hope that you all enjoy it it too!

Thanks A Million

Hi all!  You know those times when you need just a quick little card?  Like one of the '15 minutes or less variety'?  Yeah, I'm not so good at those, lol :)  But I'm trying so when I found myself in need of one it was kind of a personal challenge to see how I could do.  I decided that it would probably help if I made a smaller card- less space equals less time figuring out what the layout will be and how I can incorporate the different papers and embellishments that I love so much.  It seemed to work too- I truly only spent about 15 minutes putting this one together- once I'd done the coloring of course- and I'm pretty happy with the results.  I'm sure I'll be back to my normal 6x6 cards with lots of bling and flowers in no time but it's definitely good to step outside your comfort zone every now and then :)  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek - I hope that you like it as well!

You Make Me Happy

Hi all!  I can't believe the week is half over!  Not that I'm complaining mind you, it just seems like it's been flying by even faster than normal :)  I made this card for a great friend- her daughter is turning 16 (which blows my mind!) and she wanted something special.  I used this stamp called Reader's Delight (025) from Darcy's Diaries because when I saw it I couldn't believe how much it actually looks like her!  I wanted to do something pretty but a little more 'grown up' for this milestone birthday.  My friend loved it so I'm really hoping her daughter did too!  Thanks so much for stopping by to pay a visit- I hope everyone has a wonderful rest of their week :)

A Simple Happy Birthday

Hi all!  Hope this finds everyone having a great week so far :)  Mine has been busy- work all day and come home and work on cards at night!   This always happens when I've got lots of orders to get done.  The bonus is that, as long as I remember to grab pics, I've got stuff to share on my blog!  I've got a simple card to share tonight- and by simple I mean it ended up taking me longer than most of my other cards do because my brain just doesn't seem to want to work that way, lol.  But in the end I'm pretty happy with the result- I love how the image, Coy Kaylee from Some Odd Girl, gets to be the focal point.  And the design paper is some I've been hording in my stash because it's one of my favorite colors and I just love the flocked swirl design.  Thanks for stopping by to pay me a visit- I hope you like my card!

Forty & Fabulous

Hi all!  Sorry for being silent this week- I got sick and it just backed things up for a bit.  Thankfully things are back on track and I've got something new to share :)  I was asked to make a 40th birthday card that was fun, flirty and girly- all the things I love best!  When I saw this stamp called Blonde Bombshell by Kenny K I knew it was perfect and I had such a blast coloring her up with my Copics.  I found some Tim Holtz ribbon at Tuesday Morning for a steal and have been eagerly awaiting the chance to use it and figured it was perfect for this card.  There's some signature bling on there as well- if we're talking girlie there's got to be some bling right?  In the end this is one of those cards that I would love to receive and I hope that it makes this 40th birthday a little bit more fabulous!  I hope you enjoy it as well- thanks so much for popping by to visit!

I {Heart} U

Hi All!  I've got a sweet little card for you today that's going to go into a few different challenges!  But first things first...
I have to admit that I've been a little obsessed with coloring images in black and white with my Copics lately....I don't know what it is but when I look at an image I see it two ways- one in color and one in black and white.  Maybe it's the simplicity or the classic look B & W brings but I couldn't resist making a challenge card at least once with a black and white image (and who am I kidding?  there will probably be many more to come!), here I've used the digi stamp Lil' Valentine Luca, who you can pick up here, from Tickled Pink Stamps
This card was fun because I got to use a couple of brand new things I picked up at the store...the rolled rose from Michael's (love clearance finds!) and the Kiss word stick by Tim Holtz.  The card itself came together pretty easily, just a few ribbons here and a couple flowers there :)  The biggest challenge ended up being taking pictures for the blog since the heart, with the I {heart} U sentiment is actually a mirror.  Try getting a picture of a mirror up close without actually getting your image in it- wasn't easy but I eventually prevailed!
This card is going in the following challenges: Tickled Pink Challenge: I {heart} You, Copic Creations: Anything New and Stamp Something: Anything Goes
Supplies: Image- Digital Stamp Lil Valentine Luca Tickled Pink Stamps; Copics- W0 W1 W3 W5 W7 W9; Xpress Copic Paper; Card base- Truly Yours Archiver's; Kiss Word Stick- Tim Holtz; DP- We R Memory Keepers Merry January Scarf; Cardstock- Bazzill Basic Paper Fawn Small Scallop; Flowers- Paper rose- Recollections Michael's, Blue and white paper- Green Tara; Distress Ink- Frayed Burlap; Lace Embellishments- Recollections Michael's; Heart Mirror- Heidi Swapp; Pearls- my stash

What a Wonderful Time of the Year

Hi All!  I wanted to share a coupon book that I made for my mom for Christmas...had to wait till all the gifts were opened before I could share :)  I took a small 7 Gypsies chipboard album and covered it with Little Yellow Bycicle Poinsettia laser cut border paper which is simple but pretty and attached a digital stamp from Tiddly Inks aptly named Check My List Twice, which I adore!

I colored her with Copics and added some Stickles on her dress and hat for a little bit of sparkle and dimension.  The cover still needed a little something so I pulled out some pearls from my stash and randomly attached them to the center of a couple of the poinsettia's...add some little red knots in ribbon to the binding and it was picture perfect!

Once the cover was done I took some Bo Bunny Christmas paper from last year in a few coordinating patterns and cut some squares that would fit nicely on each page for a background.  With my computer I printed out what the coupons would be and attached those to each page with Pop Dots for dimension.  Then on each page I went back through and added a little bit of bling, as was appropriate, and the project was complete.

My mom loves handmade gifts, and anything that gives her time with her daughters, but this year was extra special because, as some know, my mom suffered a house fire this summer and her house had to be rebuilt.  She had mentioned that they gave her back the gift I gave her last year but it did have water damage...so I was so glad that I could make her something new to hold on to.  And after a wonderful holiday spent in her newly redone house it was an extra special Christmas this year...it truly is a wonderful time of the year!
