Keep Calm...

Hi All!  I've just got a quick little card to share tonight...I've got a super sweet blogging friend Jill (you MUST go check out her blog if you don't already know her- I promise you won't be disappointed!) who started using these awesome stamps from Mayzy Art Stamps and I just knew that I had to go buy some of them- a girl can never have to many cute stamps right?  So after putting a few in my cart (okay, lets be serious, after filling my cart, lol) with some images that I just couldn't live without I was itching to get my Copics in my hands and have a go...let me just say I had so much fun coloring these stamps!  This cutie is called School Time Hailey and I love everything from her braided pigtails to that adorable book bag- plus she can totally rock the school uniform look which is not easy to do :)  I colored her up to match a couple of random design papers that fit the whole 'school' look and then kind of just winged it for the rest of the card, lol!  I didn't really have a sentiment in mind necessarily so I was just pawing through some of the new stuff I've picked up and came across this label sticker from Jillibean Soup that could not have gone better with the theme of the card- although in the pictures it doesn't look like it matches very well but in real life the orange is way more toned down and the Ask Mom part matches the color of her book bag perfectly.  Plus, I like how it's got a little bit of humor to it :)  Well, I hope you like my offering this evening- thank you so much for stopping by to pay me a visit!

You're A Great Friend, but...

Hi All!  I've got a little something different for you today- not my normal bright and cheerful card, lol.  I've long been a fan of Cheri's digi stamp sentiments over at Graphicat Designs...they are off key, funny and sometimes a little bit naughty- exactly how my sense of humor works!  I've had this particular sentiment for a while but wasn't quite sure how I was going to use it.  So when I saw the challenge over at Saturated Canary was for Black, White and One Other Color my mind instantly went to Krista's zombie stamps of her kids and this card was born :)   I colored this image called Zombie Niamh with my Copics using mostly my Toner and Warm Grey's and some greens.  I was a little uncertain if I could pull the coloring off the way I wanted but I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.  I'm not really good at doing dark or morbid cards, and my sentiment lent itself to something more on the lighthearted side, so I used a black and green color pallet but chose patterned paper from MME that wasn't to dark and still used the things I love like bling and flowers to balance it all out.  It was fun to step out side my comfort zone a little and I'm so glad I got to use this sentiment finally because it literally makes me giggle every time I read it :)  Mostly I'm just hoping that my coloring and card do Krista's image justice because I know how much she loves zombies so I want to do her proud!  As usual, thanks so much for stopping by to visit- I hope you like it!

All Who Wander...

Hi All!  I've got a quick little card to share with you today.  It's featuring a new Saturated Canary image (I know you're all shocked, lol) called Pack Light.  As soon as I saw her on Krista's blog I knew I just had to have her, and even though I was in the middle of coloring another image I actually stopped just so I could do this one which is something I can honestly say I've never done before!  I found some paper from the Webster's Pages Trendsetter line to pair her with and because the paper itself has so many details I didn't really want to cover much of it up so it's a pretty simple design overall.  The challenge over at the Saturated Canary blog is to Bling It Out and since I'm kinda crazy about bling and pearls it wasn't too hard to incorporate some of that into my design although I kept it a little more understated than I usually do but I think it makes sense with the overall look of the finished card.  My sentiment is just hand written and split between the front and the inside of the card.  It's a favorite quote of mine because my sister is quite the world traveler (she'd been to 25 countries before she turned 25)- and every time I see it I think of her- "All who wander are not lost."  Well, thanks so much for stopping by- I hope you like my card and that you are all having a wonderful week so far!

A Friend...

Hi All!  Remember when I told you that I'd been on a Some Odd Girl coloring kick?  Well here's another cutie that made it onto a card- her name is Wishes and she's one of my favorite fairies that Kristy has in her shop.  I've actually had her for a few weeks and hadn't inked her up yet but when I stumbled across the Dear Lizzy Neapolitan 6x6 paper pad by American Crafts I just knew that she would have to be the image that I paired with these soft and pretty papers!  Once I had her all colored up with my Copics I started the task of putting my card together and I must say this was not the easiest card I've ever done but I'm pretty pleased with the end result- even if it did take me a bit to get there, lol.  I used the sketch from the Some Odd Girl challenge and it was a great starting point...but when I went to grab embellishments I ended up with all these fabulous things on the desk all around me but nothing seemed to fit just right...and you know what finally did it?  The little, and I mean little, tweak that made the card all of a sudden make sense?  All I did was tilt the sentiment!  Who knew the whole creative process could hinge on something as small as that!  I actual feel quite silly as I type it out...but I've definitely learned that if you've reached a creative dead end just start moving all the puzzle pieces around and you just might find your way :)  Well, enough babbling on my end- I hope you enjoy!

The Journey Begins

Hi All!  I've got a unique retirement card to share with you tonight...it features a gorgeous image called Boobie Love that Krista over at Saturated Canary has kindly given away (check the link for more info).  Now these types of images are always on the top of my must have list because I work in the Breast Care Services department of one of our large local hospitals so I always have plenty of opportunities to put them to good use.  And one of those opportunities just happens to be a co-workers retirement- the truly unique part about this card is that not only is she retiring from her work in Breast Care Services but she's also a two time Breast Cancer survivor...so I really wanted to make her card something special.  I colored my image to match some papers from MME and then went all out girlie on this one- and used tons of pink of course!  I hope that she likes it and, most of all, I hope that retirement allows her to do all the things she's always wanted to :)
