So Thankful

Hi All!  For those in the US I hope that you've had a wonderful Thanksgiving :)  I had a fabulous day filled with family, excellent food and lots of loud laughter- there really is nothing better!  I'd like to share a project that has kind of become a tradition between me and one of my dad's.  You see, he used to decorate for every holiday and Thanksgiving was no exception, but my sister and I always gave him a hard time because the decorations weren't the 'cute' kind but more along the lines of 'realistic' and I think we can all agree- real turkeys are not the prettiest animals :)  So I started making him cards that he could put out as decoration that could counter balance those decorations that we made fun of.  It's a fun little tradition and I have such a blast making pretty little things for him to display.  This year I made a sign featuring one of the new Saturated Canary images called Princess Harvest and I have to say, I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out!  And he must have felt the same because the instant he got it he hung it on the door for all to see :)  The fun traditions that my family and I have for the holidays just remind me again and again of all the things I'm so thankful for- a close and loving family, having the security of a roof over my head and food in my cupboards and getting to share the things I love with those around me.  Thanks for stopping by to visit- I'm also so thankful for this wonderful blogging community that I feel blessed to be a part of!

A Mermaid Tale

Hi All!  So, I have a confession to make- sometimes I get nervous when I'm crafting...if I start coloring and I like how it's going then I get nervous that I'm going to mess the next part up.  If I'm starting a card and I really like how my image turned out or think I've got a great idea for the layout I get nervous that the end product won't be what I hoped- and I always joke that at least once during both the coloring and the card making stages I think I'm going to have to start over...does this happen to you to?  But then I'll make it to the end and the best feeling in the world is standing back and truly liking what's sitting on my desk...I think that feeling is probably part of what draws us in as crafter's- the joy of the finished product when it's all that you hoped it would be when you started.

This card definitely took me down this path- I'd coveted the stamp, Under the Sea Mae, from Some Odd Girl for so long, and drooled over what the DT did with it, that by the time I got it I had all these ideas in my head of what I wanted it to look like when I colored it and what the card could look like.  That's when the nervousness, and maybe a little bit of intimidation, starts to set in.  But this time I'm happy- it's not exactly how I pictured the final product- but my cards rarely ever are, lol!  The true test is when I stand back and see it sitting on my desk it makes me smile which hopefully means it does the same for the person who receives it :)  Thanks so much for stopping by and listening to my late night ramblings!  Hope you're all having a wonderful week so far!

The Journey Begins

Hi All!  I've got a unique retirement card to share with you tonight...it features a gorgeous image called Boobie Love that Krista over at Saturated Canary has kindly given away (check the link for more info).  Now these types of images are always on the top of my must have list because I work in the Breast Care Services department of one of our large local hospitals so I always have plenty of opportunities to put them to good use.  And one of those opportunities just happens to be a co-workers retirement- the truly unique part about this card is that not only is she retiring from her work in Breast Care Services but she's also a two time Breast Cancer survivor...so I really wanted to make her card something special.  I colored my image to match some papers from MME and then went all out girlie on this one- and used tons of pink of course!  I hope that she likes it and, most of all, I hope that retirement allows her to do all the things she's always wanted to :)
