Flowers for the Birthday Girl

Hi All!  Wow, it seems like it's been forever since I've had a second to sit down and blog!  It must be all the working I've been doing- between my actual job and doing cards sometimes it feels like the only time I'm not working is when I'm sleeping :)  Which is probably why I've had this lovely digi stamp from Tickled Pink Stamps named Lil Pinkette Pippa printed and waiting for some color for some time.  Well, I just couldn't wait any longer so I carved out some time this weekend to do some coloring and then couldn't wait to get her on a card.  For the first time I'm using the sketch over at Crafting Life's Pieces and it was so much fun to work with- I'll definitely be using them more often...and it just so happens that Tickled Pink is sponsoring the CLP sketch challenge this month so it's almost like it was meant to be!  I used a new 6x6 paper pad from My Minds Eye, it's Lime Twist and this is the Happy Go Lucky set- I just love the colors in it.  There was so much potential in the sketch and the gorgeous stamp that I just hope I did them both justice!

A Little Birdy Told Me...

Hi All!  It's been a busy weekend but I was soooooo happy to see some sun!  I've got another birthday card- lots of those happening over the next couple of months- and took the opportunity to use another digi stamp from Spesch Stamps called Birdy In Love by Sylvia (grab it here).  I just love coloring these images with my Copics.  I've used the sketch from Friday Sketchers to help me with the layout and found myself using the new My Minds Eye "Hazel" paper pad- love the paper pads because it takes all the guess work out of finding DP that matches!
I remembered to write down my Copics again!  Hopefully that will become habit for me :)

Be Yourself

Hi All!  I wanted to share a new card with you...it's inspiration is one of my favorite quotes as the challenge over at the Tiddly Inks Challenge blog is to use a favorite quote on your card.  "Be yourself.  Everyone else is already taken. ~Oscar Wilde"  When I was growing up I always wanted to fit in and be just like everyone else- have the right hair cut, the right clothes and hang out with 'cool' crowd (I think we all struggle with this at some point).  I grew to realize that what truly makes us special are the things that make us uniquely ourselves.  I have this quote up in my bathroom as a daily reminder that the world would be a boring place if we were all the same and who I am as an individual is something I should celebrate not try to change.
This image, Aisha (which you can find here) from Tiddly Inks, seemed the perfect complement to my quote and as a bonus was a total blast to color up!  Its hard to tell from the pictures but I made her sandals and some of her bracelets gold with my glitter pen and used a jewel for her bindi.  I really like the finished product and I loved being able to combine my love of quotes with my love of card making.  When I'm having trouble finding my mojo in the future I think I'll remember this challenge and try finding inspiration in a quote!
